JVET-Q0397: Subpicture extraction process

Functional stage: allows extraction of subpicture bitstreams that can be decoded. This includes:

  • rewriting of tile structure
  • rewriting of slice structure
  • rewriting of picture dimensions

HRD related parts are not included yet.

Verified to work with example subpicture configurations. Extraction of subpictures, separate decoding and re-combining of yuv files creates the exact same result as decoding of the complete bitstream.
